Obituary of Pearl Evelyn West
Please share a memory of Pearl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Pearl Evelyn West, 91, of Cherry Hill, passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2024. Born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England in 1932, she moved to the U.S. after marrying her future husband, Carl H. West, while he was stationed in England during the Korean War.
After arriving in the U.S., Evelyn worked in different fields until retiring from Bridgeton High School in 2002 to take care of her first grandchild, Elyse Quinones. Her grandson Christian Quinones, was lucky to receive the same loving care for his first year. Evelyn was an energetic grandmother who, in her 70’s, crawled and played on the floor, patiently put the pots away after they had been “played” all day, and still found the time to teach her grandchildren nursery rhymes.
Evelyn was a great mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. She was loved by those who were lucky enough to have met her. She was intelligent and funny, and could often be found reading, or working on the NY Times crossword puzzle. She passed her love of reading to her daughter, Denise Quinones Reed, and her grandchildren. She was an amazing artist and talented at all things creative, including cooking and gardening.
She is predeceased by; her parents, husband and sisters.
