Joseph P. Chiari, 94, of Bridgeton, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Brookdale Cape May Senior Living under the care of hospice. Born in Seabrook to the late Joseph Chiari and Josephine Ottaviani Chiari, he was the husband of the late Josephine Majestro Chiari. He was a lifetime resident of Bridgeton. He served as a Corporal in the United States Army, serving his country in the Korean War from 1951-1954. Prior to his retirement, Joseph had worked for the Golden Nugget and Trump Castle casinos as a security officer from 1984-1993. He had been previously employed at Owens Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton from 1956-1984. He was a member of the Parish of the Holy Cross Immaculate Conception Church in Bridgeton. He also enjoyed spending time at the Upper Deerfield Senior Center. In his free time, Joseph enjoyed playing pinochle, woodworking, visiting the casino, traveling nationally and internationally, maintaining his lawn and garden, and traveling to Florida to spend time with his wife's family. He truly cherished his time spent with his children and grandchildren. Joseph is now reunited with his true love of 68 years after her passing in October. He is survived by; his children, Michael Chiari (Linda) of Warren, MI; Karen Kelly (Tim) of Sea Isle City; and Anthony Chiari (Jacqueline) of Galloway Township; ten grandchildren, Amanda, Caitlin, Cristin, Andrew, Rosie, Patsy, Brittany, Matthew, David, and Christina; and four great-grandchildren, Jack, Maddie, Lilly, and Ethan. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Chiari; his daughter, Joann C. Cervini; his granddaughter, Ashley Marie Chiari; his brothers, August Chiari and John Chiari; and his sisters, Laura Chiari and Barbara Marcucci. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday, July 11th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
