Mrs. Edith (Edie) E. Stewart Eckeard Edith, a child of God, beloved mother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, and television western enthusiast went from labor to reward on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at home surrounded by family. Edith attended the Commercial Township and Millville Public Schools Systems. She was employed by Maryland Cup, Baltimore, MD, Wheaton Glass, Millville, NJ; and retired as a supervisor after 25 years of service from the Woodbine Development Center, Woodbine, NJ. Edith was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church under the spiritual leadership of Rev. Dr. James A. Dunkins. She was a Missionary, member of Mothers’ and Usher Boards. Edith leaves to celebrate her life: daughter, Cynthia M. (Rev. Kato) Brown, Millville, NJ; two sons: Olen H. (Barbara) Eckeard, Jr. of Millville, NJ and Rodney O. (Bernice) Eckeard, Bridgeton, NJ; sister, Gloria (Russell) Harris, Baltimore, MD; brother, Robert “Snap” (Lola) Ames, Jr., Vineland, NJ; sisters-in-law, Hazel Logan, Bridgeton, NJ and Beatrice Bordley (Vaughn) Doss Millville, NJ; eight granddaughters, one grandson, 26 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Edith is predeceased by her husband Olen Eckeard, Sr., mother Frances Bush Ames; father, Charles Stewart, stepfather, Robert Ames, Sr.; sisters: Stella Ames Johnson and Mary Stewart Harden, brothers: Soathie Ellie Ames and Robert Steward; granddaughter, Genelle Eckeard, brother-in-law Joseph Bordley, and sisters-in-law Mary Brodley and Robin Ames. The viewing will be 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2411 Memorial Ave. Port Norris, NJ 08349. The Going Home Service will begin at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Dr. James A. Dunkins, will deliver the eulogy with Rev. Dr. Karen E. JohnsonWilliams will officiating. Edith E. Steward-Eckeard’s interment will be at Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville, NJ 08332.
