Obituary of William E.D. Johnson, Sr.

William E.D. Johnson, Sr. 93, of Stow Creek Twp. passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at his daughter's home under the care of family and hospice. Born to the late William D. Johnson and Dorothy M. Cossaboon Johnson in Bridgeton NJ, he was the husband of the late Alice (Pettit) Johnson. Most recently he had been a Stow Creek resident for past year and a half and prior to that he had resided in Fairfield Twp. for 68 years. William had worked as a truck driver on Artificial Island for about five years, prior to that he was a truck driver for Cross Transportation for 28 years. He had owned and operated Johnson's Body and Fender Paint Shop for many years, and also helped his late wife at her used furniture store called Johnson's Used Furniture Shop in Fairton for about 20 years. He enjoyed traveling, wood working, and making toys for his grandchildren. William is survived by; two daughters, Alice Hickman (Roger) of Stow Creek and Eleanora Biddle (John) of Hopewell; son in-law, Russell Massey; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, CB Johnson of Utah. He was preceded in death by; his parents; his wife, Alice Johnson; two children, William E.D. Johnson, Jr. and Phyllis Massey; and three sisters, Lydia Ore, Eleanor Davis, and Gladys Whitesel. A graveside service will be held at Laurel Lawn Cemetery on Tuesday, April 23 at 2pm. Friends will be received at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp., from 1PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service.
