Obituary of Walter Addison Carter

Walter Addison Carter (a.k.a. Addie Boy), 75 of Vineland, the son of the late Walter and Nellie Booker Carter was born May 7, 1947, Cumberland County, Virginia, departed this life to be at rest with the LORD on Friday, April 5, 2024. He received his formal education in public schools in Cumberland County, and was a skilled masonry building homes throughout the greater Southern New Jersey region. He praised and worship the Lord with the congregation of Union Baptist Temple Church, Bridgeton, NJ, along with visiting churches with family and friends. He was a loving father, grandfather (great), brother and friend to many. He loved the latest and the greatest music, you could find him sitting in his car grooving. He enjoyed watching western movies, shooting pool with Darell, hanging out with his sons, and cooking his favorite dishes. He loved, and would not share his family's sweet potato pies. He leaves to cherish his memory; one daughter, Dorothy Armstead (Darell), three sons; Walter (Sharonda), Shawn (Sissy), Jermaine; a bonus son who he raised, Charles; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grands; three brothers, Bobby (Mary), Eddie (Cindy); James (Bridgette); five sisters, Rose, Edna (Kirk), Olivia (Edward), Diane, and Gloria (Keith); brother-in-law Bobby Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Addie was predeceased by; his loving partner, Rosemary Armstead; two sisters; Sarah Smith and Alease Walker; and a son Tajai Carter. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Hwy 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Yorktown Methodist Cemetery in Pilesgrove follwing the service.
