Obituary of Sara Mae Wilson

Sara Mae Ball Wilson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at the age of 73, at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden.
She was born on May 12, 1950, in Bridgeton, New Jersey, to the late Dolores Smith Ball and Johnny McKinley Ball, and grew up in Port Norris, New Jersey. Sara was a graduate of the Millville public school system. She became one of the first Black women to work for Prudential Life Insurance Co. Later, she dedicated her time to the Baltimore Board of Education. The majority of her career was spent at Seabrook Brothers and Sons in Seabrook, NJ, where she thrived as a Quality Control specialist for over 15 years.
Sara was married to the love of her life, Ellsworth "Sonny" Wilson and they built a beautiful life together. In her free time, Sara embraced her love for science fiction movies, always working and keeping busy, and cherishing the moments of taking care of her grandchildren. Shopping trips with her best friend Gwen were a source of great joy. Sara made sure everyone was taken care of and overly fed! She will truly be missed.
She is survived by; her devoted husband, Ellsworth Wilson; her children; Aminah Imani of Millville, Zaid Imani of MI, Aiysha Imani of Millville, Haakim Wilson of Millville, and Hassan Wilson of Vineland; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; her siblings, Denise Darcel Artis of Vineland, Marguerite Ball of Port Norris, Renee (Arthur) Williams of Newport, James Ball of GA, Cherry Mitchell (Gary) of MD, and Jefferey Ball of Vineland; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by; her parents Dolores and Johnnie Ball; her sister, Kim Ball; and her brother, Johnnie Ball Jr. Sara leaves behind a legacy of love.
Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Hwy 77, Upper Deerfield Twp., on Saturday, April 13 at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Twp. following the services.
