Harvey W. Dewberry, Sr., 85, of Deerfield Twp. passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in Burlington County following an extended illness. Born in Milmay to the late William W. Dewberry and Fannie P. Howard Dewberry, he was the husband of Ethel C. Hall Dewberry. He had been a resident of Deerfield Twp. since 1964 and prior to that he had lived in Bridgeton and Millville. Harvey was a graduate of the Millville High School Class of 1957 and following that he completed his vocational training at Salem County Vocational Technical School. In 1981, Harvey graduated from Cumberland County College where he earned an associates degree in the Arts. Prior to his retirement, Harvey worked for Airwork Corporation at the Millville Airport for 38 years and had been elevated to the position of supervisor. Before that he had worked for A&P Supermarkets at several of the local stores. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guards. Harvey was a member of the Black Catholic Ministry Commission of the Diocese of Camden. He had also served his community as a volunteer fireman and achieved the rank lieutenant at the former Carmel Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member of the Parish of the Holy Cross-Immaculate Conception Church. In his free time, Harvey enjoyed woodworking and mechanical work. He also loved to travel with his wife, Ethel and their family and friends in their RV. He is survived by; his wife, Ethel C. Hall Dewberry of Deerfield Twp.; his two children, Bernice Dewberry Street and her husband, Romaine, Sr. of Shiloh and Harvey W. Dewberry, Jr. and his wife, Beverly of Willingboro; 5 grandchildren, Romaine Street, Jr. and his wife, Brittany of Hopewell Twp.; Cara Fischer and her husband, John, Sr. of Landsdowne, PA; Michael Dewberry and his partner, Maria of Yardley, PA; Kristofer Dewberry and his wife, Emily of Doylestown, PA and Jourdin M. Dewberry of Willingboro; his great-grandchildren, Hayden Jude Street, Greyson Michael Dewberry, Lillian Rose Fischer, Avery Edwin Dewberry, Luna Abigail Street, Leif Romaine Street, Lincoln Wade Dewberry and John Ignatius “JJ” Fischer, Jr. and many other extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by; his siblings, William Douglas, Jr., Bernice Jackson, Richard Dewberry, Sr. , Evangeline Johnson, Estelle Gibbons, Henry L. Dewberry, Sr., Audrey Dewberry-Clark, Malon Dewberry and Marvin Dewberry. Funeral services were held privately at the convenience of the family.
