Obituary of Darlene P. Harris

Darlene P. Harris, 78, of Cherry Hill and formerly of Bridgeton passed way on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Silver Healthcare Nursing Center in Cherry Hill. She was born in Salem to the late Arthur Lee Green and Margaret Matilda Harris. Darlene had been a resident of the Cherry Hill area for the last 12 years and prior to that she had resided in Salem and Bridgeton. Darlene had been a member of the NJEA and St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Bridgeton for many years. She had received her Bachelors degree in Education and worked as a teacher for the Fairfield Twp. School District for 16 years. Prior to teaching she had been a teachers aide at Pearl St. School in Bridgeton. Educating youth was her passion and she truly loved her students. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, taking pictures, and socializing. Darlene can be remembered for her funny and feisty personality. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Harris and his wife, Liz of Blackwood; her brother, Zachary Brown; her sister, Rita Harris; her granddaughters, Katherine Harris and Carrie Harris; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Gregory Brown and Richard Harris; and her sister, Nadine Brown. Funeral Services will be held at 12 NOON on Monday, February 5th, at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 12 NOON prior to the service. Interment will take place following the service at Overlook Cemetery, 100 Overlook Drive, Bridgeton.
