Obituary of Thomas L. Moats

Thomas L. Moats, 87, of Upper Deerfield Twp., passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Big Oak Rehab & Care Center.
Born in Booth, WV to the late Richard Moats and Nettie Arnett Moats, he was the husband of the late Rose Ann Moats. He had been an Upper Deerfield resident since 1963. He had retired from Cobby's Auto Parts in Elmer upon their closing. Prior to that he had worked for Bridgeton Dye and Finishing for 20 years and for the maintenance department for Seabrook housing for 10 years. Thomas had been a Volunteer Firefighter for Seabrook Fire and Rescue and an honorary member.
In his free time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, watching old Westerns, woodworking, and was a Wonder Woman fan. He also enjoyed sports, including watching West Virginia University football, and girls collegiate Softball and Volleyball. Thomas also relished collecting and displaying his Christmas Villages and trains.
He is survived by; his children, Craig Moats of Woodstown and Beverly Crackovich (Michael) of Upper Deerfield Twp.; his granddaughter, Jessica Baker (Brandon); and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by; his wife, Rose Ann Moats; his parents, Richard and Nettie Moats; his brother, James Moats; and his sister, Maxine Jennings.
A memorial service will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp., on Saturday, January 13th at 12 NOON. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 11 AM to 12 PM prior to the service. Internment will take places at Laurel Lawn Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Thomas' memory to Deerfield United Methodist Church or Bethel Baptist Church.
