Obituary of Richard E. Lore, Sr.

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard E. Lore, Sr. He reached the end of his journey on Sunday, December 31, 2023. He was 86 years old. Richard was born in Bridgeton, NJ, to the late John Elston and Ethel duBois Lore. He graduated from Bridgeton High School, Class of 1955. Richard married his high school sweetheart, Eileen Walker, and together they raised six children: Richard Jr., Cindy, Roland, Regan, Megan, and Kristen. Richard began working at the age of 13, and he was very proud of his paper route. He had 180 customers and was able to buy his first car, a 1935 Chevy, which his brothers always borrowed. Rich later worked for D’Agostino Bros., Salem Nuclear Plant, and Stanker & Galetto, where he retired in 1998. He was a longtime member of Carpenters Union Local 121. Rich’s interests were collecting wooden planes, country music and dancing, yard sales and auctions, NASCAR, and sudoku puzzles. He bought Shoemaker Dairies in 1987 with a dream of restoring it to its former glory. Rich attended Lighthouse Baptist Church. Richard later married Marilynn Mattioli in Savannah, GA. They shared 31 years together and enjoyed traveling across the US, Canada, and even Italy for two awesome weeks. Richard is survived by his wife, Marilynn; children, Richard E. Lore, Jr. (Grace), Cindy Leigh (Scott), Roland Lore (JoAnn), Megan Lore, and Kristen Marroquin; brother, Roger (Cheryl); 11 grandchildren: Christopher Bechtel (Ricky), Michael Bechtel, Jordan Carrasquillo (Jon), Rachel Leigh, Joshua Leigh (Victoria), Ryan Gannon, Elise Lore, Amber Canion (Brandon), Kaitlin Lore, Danielle Overstreet, and Micaela Marroquin; 3 great-grandchildren: Brecca Green, Brenna Green, and Lilianna Canion and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, son Regan, and brother Maurice. We would like to thank his very special friend, John Likanchuk (AKA Mr. John), for all of his kindness and friendship, as well as his caretaker, Pam Soma, and his Hospice workers, Donna and Cathi, for all of their help and thoughtfulness. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Friday, January 5th at 11:00 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Cohansey Baptist Cemetery in Hopewell Township.
