Obituary of Josefina Castillo Sanchez

Josefina Castillo Sanchez, 73, of Vineland passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Washington Twp. Born in Nuevo Leon, Mexico to the late Crescencio Castillo and Dominga Quintanilla Castillo, she had been the wife of the late Mario Sanchez Rodriguez. Prior to moving to the United States she had lived in Mexico until she was in her late 20's, then resided in Atlantic County for two years and had lived in Vineland, NJ the rest of her life. She had retired from the Laundry Department at Ancora State Psychiatric Hospital. Prior to that she had been a seamstress and housekeeper for local families. In her younger years in Mexico, she was a caretaker and housekeeper. Josefina had been a devoted member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, where she was a former member in Vineland and current member in Malaga. Her faith was very important to her and she was a matriarch in her local Jehovah Witness community, helping and caring for others. In her free time, she enjoyed playing board games and any puzzle games that were math related. When she was younger she enjoyed sewing and crocheting. To Josefina nothing was more important than her family, which included her friends as they became her family as well. She cared for everyone she met, she was a mom, friend, sister, grandmother, and whatever other role needed to be filled. When her children were young she was considered the neighborhood mom, caring for all she could. Her calling to be a caretaker continued throughout her life as she truly strived to help and care for everyone she knew. She is survived by; her children, Milca Pratts (Fred), Jaime Sanchez (Meganne) and Jason Ryan Sanchez, all of Vineland; her grandchildren, Neena J. Pratts and Niko D. Pratts; her siblings, Ramona Castillo (Jesus), Concepcion Castillo (Lourdes), Juana Ramirez (Felix), Eleazar Castillo (Sylvia) and Cresencio Castillo Jr. (Yolanda); many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by; her husband, Mario Sanchez Rodriguez; and her siblings, Petra Castillo, Aurelia Castillo and Maria Ines Castillo. Funeral Services will be held at NOON on Saturday, December 30th at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp.
