Obituary of Herbert D. Jones

Herbert D. Jones, age 68, of Deerfield Township died Monday, October 24, 2011 at his home under the care of Hospice. He had been in declining health for the past three months. The husband of the late Edna "Dolly" Forzetting Jones, to whom he was married for 30 years, Herb was born on July 13, 1943 to the late Herbert R. Jones and Ella Mae Pierce Jones in Bridgeton. He had lived in Deerfield Township for 43 years and in Upper Deerfield Township prior to that. He was currently employed at the Gerresheimer Glass Company in Vineland and in combination with his time at Kimble Glass Company and the Owens-Illinois Glass Company in Vineland had been with the plant for 44 years. A veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, Herb had served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the American Legion Shoemaker Post # 95 in Bridgeton, V.F.W. Meade-Woodward Post in Bridgeton and the Local Steelworkers Union. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed working in the yard around his home and he "enjoyed his job with the glass company". He is survived by five sisters, Lillian Jefferson of Bridgeton, Betty Jones of Millville, Elena Jones of Bridgeton, Sandra Jones of Millville and Janet Carty and her husband Don of Millville; a grandson, Ricky Forzetting of Bridgeton; a close friend, Betty Hoffman of Millville and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Saturday, October 29th at 11 AM. Burial will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Township. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services.
