Diann (Smith) Hemple-Miletta, best known as Kim, peacefully passed away on October 10, 2023, in Jacksonville, NC. She was born in Oceanside, CA to Leah (Curreri) Morris and the late Kenneth Smith. Kim was 71 years old at the time of her passing. Throughout her life, Kim held various roles that showcased her dedication and passion for serving others to include her time as a volunteer at Bridgeton Invitational Baseball Tournament, a member of Bridgeton Recreation Committee, former Bridgeton Christmas Parade organizer and being the Executive Director of a Miss America preliminary pageant, known as the Miss Cumberland County Pageant. However, her heart truly belonged to Bridgeton Midget Football League, where she served as a board member and cheerleading coach for over 35 years. Beyond her community service endeavors, Kim had a multitude of interests that brought her joy. She possessed a remarkable talent for creative decorating, cooking for family gatherings, baking and many crafts. Kim also loved embarking on cruises, indulging in her passion for reading, and enjoying the excitement of casinos. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her beloved husband, Sam Miletta, who stood by her side throughout their journey together. She is also survived by her loving children: Carl Hemple, Jr. and his wife, Debbie of NJ, Melissa Hemple of NJ, Lauren Hemple of NJ, Lindsay Giles of NC, and stepchildren Danny, Sherry, Gina of NJ. Kim’s grandchildren, who affectionately called her “mom-mom,” include Dillon Miletta, Kyle Baxley, Evan Hemple, Bryan Hemple, Dalsten Giles, Gavin Giles, Derek Giles, and Brandon Hemple; her sister Sugie Joyce, her brother Doug Corson, and her best friend, Denise Waller, who was Godmother to her children. Kim’s memory will forever be cherished by her surviving family members. She is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Smith and an infant son, Todd C. Hemple.
