Shirley Ann Macera, 86, of Upper Deerfield, passed away at home on Monday, October 9, 2023 under the care of her family and hospice.
Shirley was born in Lochgelly, WV, to the late Homer Beckelheimer and Ida May Lightfoot Beckelheimer. She had resided in Bridgeton from 1959 to 1996 and then had lived in Upper Deerfield for the last 27 years. She worked for Owens-Illinois Glass Co. until their closure, then she worked for United Jersey Bank at the office in downtown Bridgeton, and then worked for Kimble Glass in Millville.
In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed bowling, volleyball and softball. Shirley was an AVID Phillies fan and loved going to games with her family and watching the games on tv. Shirley loved to sew, country line dancing, doing yard work and tending to her flower garden. She loved to clean and help others when ever she could. She also liked to help her son-in-law with potting plants in the greenhouses at the nursery. Shirley loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed going on bus trips with her friends. Shirley looked forward to going to the yearly Macera family reunions and Sunday dinners with her family. She also was known for her chicken noodle soup and spaghetti. She was a member of the Rosary society and the ladies auxiliary for the Marine Corp.
Shirley is survived by; her daughter, Melissa Mooneyham and son-in-law Lynn Mooneyham Jr.; their children, Morgan (John) Mossbrooks and Michael Mooneyham; her son Antonio Macera and daughter-in-law Brandy Macera; their children, Dessarae Macera and Antonio Macera; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Grace and Keeley Lynn; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by; her parents, Homer and Ida May Beckelheimer; her husband, Michael F. Macera; two sisters, Harriet and Betty; and one brother Robert.
Funeral services will be held at Deerfield United Methodist Church, 1557 State Highway 77, Elmer, NJ 08318 Wednesday, October, 18, 2023 at 12 NOON. Friends will be received at the church from 11AM to 12 NOON prior to the services. Interment will take place at Overlook Cemetery, 100 Overlook Drive, Bridgeton following the service.
