Obituary of Edgar Sydney Clement

Edgar Sydney Clement, 87, of Bridgeton passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at his home under the care of hospice and his family. Born in Bridgeton to the late John Sydney Clement and Oleta Chew Clement, he was the husband of Helen E. Hendricks Clement. He had been a resident of Bridgeton most of his life. Syd had served in the United States Air Force during peacetime for 6 years. Prior to his retirement, he had worked as an electronics technician at the Federal Aviation Administration in Millville for 35 years. He was a member of Rosenhayn United Methodist Church. In his free time, Syd was an avid hobbyist who enjoyed radio controlled model airplanes. He traveled the throughout the country to attend many radio controlled airplane events. He was also an avid HAM radio operator and was a member of several clubs an organizations for both HAM radio and remote control airplane operators. He is survived by; his wife of 57 years, Helen Hendricks Clement of Bridgeton; his daughter, Cathy Clement of PA; his brother-in-law, Bill Avellino of California; his niece Melissa Avellino Berschens of Somerset, CA and his niece, Joy Avellino Vierra of Somerset, CA. He was preceded in death by; his mother, Oleta Chew Clement; his father, John Sydney Clement; his sister, Sara Elaine Clement Avellino and his step-daughter, Susan Hill. Graveside funeral services will be held at Overlook Cemetery, 100 Overlook Drive, Bridgeton on Monday, October 9th at 2:30 PM.
