Obituary of Ruby D Nutz

Ruby D. Griffith Nutz, age 91, of Augusta, GA and formerly of Upper Deerfield Township passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Piedmont-Augusta Hospital in Augusta, GA. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a friend to many. Ruby was born in Raven, Virginia and was the daughter of the late David Estel Compton and Leona Hess Compton. She was predeceased by her late husbands, Arthur Griffith and Emanuel Nutz. During her lifetime, she had resided in Upper Deerfield Township and Elmer for many years and also Ohio and Georgia. Before her retirement, she had been employed as a healthcare aide in Centerburg, OH and had previously worked at Seabrook Farms and Green Giant Foods Company. She was a member of Olivet United Methodist Church until moving to Georgia where she then attended Hillcrest Baptist Church in Augusta. She is survived by her children, Sharon Griffith Nutz of Pittsgrove and Glenn Griffith of Augusta, GA; Her brothers, Douglas Compton and Cecil Compton; sisters, Alice Anderson and Della Carns, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was predeceased by her children, Roger and Derek Griffith and Tracy Griffith Fowler; sisters, Edith Compton, Rhea Compton and Ruthie Compton and her brothers, Clovis and Edwin Compton. Ruby will be loved and missed by many. Funeral Services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Thursday, September 14th at 11:00 AM. A visitation will take place on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Centerton Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Pittsgrove Township.
