Betty Jane “BJ” Ale, 86, of Upper Deerfield Twp. passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at the Big Oak Rehab & Care Center in Pittsgrove Twp. Born in Middletown, DE to the late Leroy Owens and Rebecca May Jarrell Owens, she was the wife of 52 years to the late Muse P.H. Ale. She came from Betterton, MD but had been a resident of Cumberland County most of her life and had lived in Bridgeton, Hopewell Twp., Deerfield Twp. and Upper Deerfield Twp. Betty had worked in several restaurants and florists in the area. She operated her own decorating show business where she had earned many prizes in sales. She had also been the owner and operator of Tinker's Seafood in Upper Deerfield Twp. with her husband, Muse for six years. She had then been employed at Inspira Medical Center in Elmer in food services for 12 years until her retirement. In her free time, Betty enjoyed collecting dolls and butterflies, gardening, flower arranging and interior decorating. She loved spending time with and was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by; her children, Sherry Craner, Troy Ale (Karen), Michelle Snyder and Vance Ale (Joyce); her grandchildren, Kenny Craner, Randy Hitchner, Nathan Ale, Seth Ale, Gillian Ale and Lexa Ale; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Muse Ale, she was preceded in death by; her brother, Donald Owens. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
