Obituary of Welesley D. Davis

Please share a memory of Welesley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On August 16th, 2023, our father/brother/grandfather and so much more, Welesley Davis passed away into a better place of peace after a his ongoing battles with heart and lung health . A warrior throughout life, he was 77 years old. He was born in Clarendon Jamaica where he was raised with his sisters and brother. He was exceptionally good with his hands and worked with them throughout his life in various roles. He moved to the United States in the 1970's and continued in skilled labor trades. He settled in Gouldtown, N.J. in the mid stages of his life. He worked at various organizations before landing at Seabrook's Brothers and Sons in 1996. He then transitioned to Cumberland Cold Storage and worked there as a head forklift lead until he retired. Welesley was affectionately known by different nicknames or pet names but one thing remained consistent was his impact on those around him. He was well liked and always had jokes in the moment. He never was one to volunteer his advice but always readily gave it to those that sought it out. Those who had the pleasure of meeting him enjoyed his candid attitude towards life in general. Being fiercely independent, he always made sure to be able to do any task he asked of you. This trait translated to his support of others and their endeavors. His favorite past times included watching wrestling, playing lottery, crossword puzzles and for his amusement verbal sparring with his friends. He is survived by many loving individuals, including siblings, Rosetia Campbell, Jennifer Hall, Donna Chen, Brenda Thomas, Nathaniel Davis, Caroline Davis Levy; and his children Leslie Davis, Brenda Williams, Brenda Davis-McGaw and Ryan Davis. He is also survived by more family, friends and neighbors who share their condolences. He was predeceased by his mother, Betsey Maud Davis; and father, Lemuel Davis. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website www.padgettfuneralhomes.com. Lovingly submitted by the family
