Obituary of Isaac DeShields

Rev. Isaac DeShields, age 90, of Fairfield Township passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 3, 2023. The son of the late Wesley DeShields and Josephine Davis DeShields, he was born in Bridgeton and was the husband of the late Christine Lowe DeShields. He had been a Fairfield Township resident for 50 years and had lived in Bridgeton prior to that. Before his retirement, he had been employed as a Mason by trade at the former Leesburg State Prison, now the Bayside State Correctional Facility in Leesburg. Rev. DeShields was a member and the former Pastor of Wesley Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in Rosenhayn for many years. He is survived by his five children, Vanessa Logan of Fairfield Township, Wilbert DeShields of Millville, Deborah DeShields of Millville, Elliott DeShields of Clayton and Belinda Holloway of Millville and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Isaac DeShields, Jr. and six siblings, Charles DeShields, Grace Colborn, William DeShields, Wilbert DeShields, Clarissa Warren and Margaret Perry. Funeral services will be held at the Chestnut Assembly of God, 2554 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland on Thursday, August 10th at 11:00 AM. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Hopewell Township. Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township.
