Obituary of Caroline Cordelia Smith

Caroline Cordelia Hardy Smith, known as Sweet Caroline, 74, of Bridgeton NJ, passed away on Tuesday, July 25,2023 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, NJ. Caroline was the daughter of late Glen and Miriam Smith of Trenton,NJ and the granddaughter of the late Charles and Mary Emma Cooper of Bridgeton, NJ. Caroline was a lifelong resident of Bridgeton NJ; she attended Bridgeton High School, Cumberland County College, Rutgers University and Franklin-Morrison Computer School. Christianity, education and public service was near and dear to her heart. Her career path included, working at S.C.O.P.E Inc, Cumberland County Court House, 4-H Administration Office , Cumberland County Board of Election, Code Blue and City of Bridgeton as Assistant Tax Collector. Caroline is survived by two daughters, Denise (Courtney) Warters and Katina Smith; and one son William C. Smith; and a host of grandchildren, family and friends. Funeral services will be held at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 90 Matthew Brown Way, Bridgeton, NJ, on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM – 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp.
