Obituary of Robert Alec Jones

Robert's Story of Life and Love Robert Alec Jones, 81, of Bridgeton, suddenly departed his stay here to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, July 7, 2023. Robert was born on September 12, 1941 in Cohansey, NJ to the late Forrest Jones and Lucille Johnson Jones. Robert served six years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he received the Highly Skilled Marksman Badge, as well as a National Defense Service Medal and a Sharpshooter (rifle) Badge. After his Honorable Discharge in 1970, he was employed at National Freight in Vineland, NJ, and as a Machine Operator for Southern Industrial Sand in Williamstown, NJ. Robert was always actively working on automobiles. He had awesome operating and mechanical skills in repairs when a car wasn't functioning properly. He had also assisted in preparing and delivering cords of firewood to customers in the Tri-State area as an assistant at his brother-in-law's firewood delivery business. Robert leaves to mourn his family; daughter, Debra Jones of Vineland; grandchildren, Melissa Brown, Justin Jones, and Theresa Jones all of Vineland, NJ; two brothers, Thomas Jones and Douglas Jones both of Bridgeton, NJ; seven sisters, Inez Thomas (Charlie) of Richland, NJ, MaryAnn Copeland of Bridgeton, NJ, Lucille H. Jones of Atlantic City, NJ, Lois M. Woods (Daniel) of Bridgeton, NJ, Cathy L. Jones of Ruther Glen, VA, Gayle Jones Turpin of Woodbury, NJ, and Virginia R. Jones of Camden, NJ; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1837 NE Blvd., Vineland, NJ, on Tuesday, July 18th, at 11AM. Friends will be received at the church from 9AM to 11AM prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Twp.
