Obituary of Irene Holland

Mrs. Irene Ferguson (Holland) was born September 18, 1948 in Americus, Georgia. She was born to the late Mr. Jessie Rae Ferguson and the late Mrs. Geraldine Knighton Ferguson. She received her education from Stanley High School. Irene was employed and retired from Woodbine State School where she worked for over 20 years as a direct support provider for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Irene loved watching her "westerns" on TV and her Lifetime Movies. She loved being with her friends and hosting different parties and holiday events and she will greatly missed. On July 5, 2023 she transitioned from this life. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William "Billy" Holland; brothers, Mr. Homer Jesse Ferguson and Mr. Jesse Roe Ferguson; sisters, Ms. Shirley Ferguson, Ms. Betty Jean Lawson, and Ms Ruby Jean Knighton; and grandson, Darrel Hatton. She is survived by her loving son, Emmett Martin and her daughter in law Theresa Martin; grandchildren, Annetonette, Daireck (Melissa), Ahjahtay and Ahnoyea; her five great grandchildren, Peyton, Kestrell, Kristian, Mavis and Davina; sisters, Ms Geraldine Ferguson, Ms Helen Tullis and Mrs. Ella Ruth Ferguson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14th at 11:00 AM at Bethel AME Church, 113 S. 5th Street, Millville, NJ. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Twp.
