Obituary of June R. Lafferty

June R. Lafferty (nee Phillips), age 102 of Pittsgrove, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on June 25, 2023 in Mullica Hill, NJ. She was born in Schuylkill Haven, PA on June 22, 1921. June was the daughter of the late John and Hannah Klahr Phillips. She was a 1939 graduate of the Schuylkill Haven High School. June grew up and lived in Philadelphia for 30 years before moving to Pittsgrove in 1964, where she resided and called her home. She was the wife of the late Edwin Lafferty, to whom she was married for 52 years. June was a devout member of the Olivet United Methodist Church of Pittsgrove. She served as a Sunday School teacher of 4-5 year olds for 14 years, and was a member of the Olivet United Methodist Women (UMW). In addition to her involvement with the church, June was an avid reader. She enjoyed playing card and board games with family and friends, and was talented at making crafts and hand work, including embroidery, crochet, and needlepoint. June possessed a true love and passion for life and valued her time with family, friends, and loved ones. June was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, in 2002, and her sisters, Margaret A. Kremer and May E. Bubeck. She is survived by: her daughter, Sarah E. Powell and her husband, Raymond of Murrells Inlet, SC; her loving niece, Marion Nuss, who was also her long time caregiver; her nephew, James Miller and his wife, Jean. Her loving friends, along with the Garrison family of Pittsgrove. Funeral services will be held at the Olivet United Methodist Church, 933 Centerton Road, Pittsgrove, New Jersey on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held ONE HOUR (10:00 – 11:00) prior to the service. Interment will be in the Olivet Cemetery immediately following the service. There will be a luncheon following Interment at the Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Olivet United Methodist Church.
