Please share a memory of Andrew to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Advanced Presiding Elder Andrew Chin, Sr. transitioned from labor to reward on June 10, 2023 He respected the scripture (John 9:4) stating,” I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day, the night cometh, when no man can work. He was born on August 29, 1925, to Mr. Andrew and Mother Mammie Chin. He was born and educated in Calvert County, Lusby, Maryland. He was the oldest child of this union. He became a member of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob in his youth and worshipped under the doctrine of the Father and founder, Father G.W. Israel, P.O.I. He continued his church roots by spending time on the church’s farms in Coshocton, Ohio and Princess Anne, Maryland. He worked on the farms with eagerness and obedience, doing various tasks that was set before him. He felt truly blessed and honored to witness, participate, and experience a portion of the church’s history. He took pride in sharing precious memories of worshipping and rejoicing in the presence of his beloved Father and the other saints of Israel. These spiritual experiences brought him peace, joy and happiness that lasted throughout his lifetime. On February 7, 1946, he enlisted and honorably served in the United States Army during WW II. After serving his country, he relocated to Port Norris, New Jersey, where he met and fell in love with Senior Mother Juanita Mae Chin. They took their marital vowels on March 5, 1950. Their love and respect for God and each other reaped a lasting bond within their marriage and religious experiences. They actively supported each other throughout their marriage, parenting and church life. They remained in Holy matrimony until the end of their lives. From this union, they were blessed with five children. At an early age, their children were taught the meaning and importance of being an obedient and respectful child of God. It was understood that while living under their roof, their rules would be obeyed or else there would be consequences. He was a devoted husband, parent and church member. He was a veteran member of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Inc. and served as a dedicated, humble and faithful servant. He worked as a diligent soldier in the army of the Lord. As he progressed, he held offices of Advanced Presiding Elder, Assistant Pastor and later Pastor at the congregations of Bivalve and Bridgeton, New Jersey. Among his gifts include composing church songs. One of his favorite compositions is called, “The More I Am Afflicted”. He served the church as a self-taught instrumentalist of the guitar and piano. He displayed spiritual pleasure as he fellowshipped throughout Israel. He gained employment in the seafood industry until he made a career change to the road construction industry. For many years, he assisted in building roads and highways throughout New Jersey and surrounding areas. However, when his health began to decline, he reluctantly made the decision to retire. During his retirement, repairing watches became one of his favorite hobbies. Another one of his enjoyable pastimes was making others laugh. His sense of humor was contagious as he amused himself and others by telling funny stories in a comical and sometimes exaggerated way. The laughter of others was very dear to his heart. He was predeceased by his parents; Mr. Andrew and Mother Mammie Chin, his wife; Senior Mother Juanita Chin; his daughter, Mother Angelia Evette Chin; his grand-daughter, Kimala Jean Chin-Norton; his great-grandson, Shaun Norton, his sisters; Victoria Garner, Rosetta Chase, Senior Mother Helen Chin-Walls, his brothers; Augustus Chin, Albert and Clarence Chase, and Edward and Cephas Miller.
