Rudolph J. “Rudy” Barber Jr., 79, of Bridgeton, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at home. Rudy was born to the late Rudolph Barber Sr. and Rebecca Sockwell Barber and resided in Bridgeton all of his life. Rudy graduated from Bridgeton High School class of 1962. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict and obtained his Bachelors degree from Pembroke State University in North Carolina and was a self employed welder for many years. Rudy was the husband to the late Patsy Barber and they were co-owners of Chesabar Kennels where they bred champion Chesapeake Retrievers for over 30 years. He enjoyed going salt water fishing, woodworking crafts, watching football on tv, shooting pool, and drag racing. Rudy was an avid card player and he also was known for his choice of fashion as a sharp dresser. Rudy is survived by his two brothers, Barry Barber (Kathleen) of Bridgeton, and Edward Barber (Patricia) of Hopewell Twp.; his companion, Pamela; his nephew, Adam E. Barber (Allyson) of Hopewell Twp.; three nieces, Ashley R. Barber-Parkhill (John) of Hopewell Twp., Tracy Barber-Fardone (Michael) of Cape May, and Lori Nichols of Little Egg Harbor; two great-nieces Olivia Barber and Isabella Fardone; and one great-nephew Grayson Parkhill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Rebecca Barber; and his wife Patsy Barber. Funeral services were held privately at the convenience of the family.
