Douglas R. Wetzel, 63, of Upper Deerfield Twp, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, in the comfort of his home following a period of declining health. He was born and raised in Millersburg, PA to Ralph & Joanne Wetzel and graduated from Millersburg H.S. in 1977; he then attended the Missouri Auction School. Doug was an auctioneer in NJ and a licensed and bonded auctioneer in PA and FL. He worked for multiple auction companies throughout his life including, auctioning with his dad at Ralph's Auctions in Millersburg, PA, Manada Hill Auction in Harrisburg, PA and Elmer Auction here in NJ for 22 years before it closed. Doug also held his own Wetzel Auctions on occasion. He was a longtime member of the American Numismatic Association (AMA). Doug was very knowledgeable when it came to jewelry, coins, and antiques and loved to share his passion with others. He also enjoyed selling jewelry, coins, and antiques online. Doug could often be found first at yard sales, the flea market in Vineland, and he enjoyed going to auctions looking for rare items. He is an animal lover and has opened his heart and home to cats and dogs throughout the years. Most recently, he loved spending time with his two dogs Roxy and Milo. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, stepfather, uncle, great uncle, and always put his family first. Doug is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Wetzel; his wife, Debra Wetzel; and sister in-law, Rose Wetzel. He is survived by his mother, Joanne Wetzel; his daughter, Staci Kinzel (Bobby); his brother, Terry Wetzel; nephews, Shane Wetzel and Austin Griffie; one niece, Brandi Crum (Mike); one great-nephew, Cameron Crum; two great-nieces, Cailey & Caidenne Crum; his brother in-law, Frank Griffie (Lisa); and his uncle Dale Wert (Bev). A Memorial Service will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Hwy 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at 11am. Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the services at the funeral home. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral homes website www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
