Obituary of Lester A. McAllister Jr.

Lester A McAllister, Jr, 77, died peacefully at home on March 30, 2023 following a period of declining health. He was the first son of Les Sr. & June Hitchner McAllister. Lester was a lifelong resident of Friesburg, Alloway Township. Lester graduated from Woodstown High School Class of 1964. Lester was predeceased by his parents, and beloved wife, Isabel Battle McAllister, and has no children. He is survived by his brothers Edward, Michael (Rosemarie), Stephen (Melinda), Todd (Sherry), and his sister, Cynthia McAllister Hardwick (Russell), his 5 nieces and 8 great nieces & nephews and many family relatives and numerous friends throughout the region. He was devoted to his family and was a loyal and loved friend to many. He’s also survived by his long-time friend and frequent companion in recent years, Mary H Bell. Lester was a very hard working, dedicated farmer. Besides being widely known and respected in South Jersey for selling hay directly to local customers, he also raised cattle, along with vegetable, grain and hay crops. He enjoyed going to the Salem County Fair and loved going to the Cowtown Rodeo every Saturday night with his “Red Headed Lady.” Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 6th, at the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 7, Upper Deerfield Township where friends and family are invited to visit from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Friesburg Lutheran Cemetery. Flowers can be sent to Padgett Funeral Home.
