Sorry to learn of Ed's passing. I have many fond memories of Ed and Franklin at Cohanzick Country Club.
I would caddy on weekends.
My father, Sam Balinkie, smoked cigars and would often give Ed one of his Optimos.

On behalf of Barbara J. White (deceased), John H. White (deceased) and myself, Ed Carman was truly respected as well as all the Carman family were friends of our family. Centerton Country Club was a significant family time location for decades starting with the opening of the club. My Mom was a multi year Women's Club Champion.
Ed was instrumental in my life leading to my 47 years and ongoing PGA Golf Professional, with 30 of those years as PGA TOUR employee. I worked summer jobs at Centerton CC during my school years in Bridgeton.
Thank you John Robert for writing your Father's life's tribute/overview which is inspiring and truly reveals your Dad's accomplishments. I want to share my condolences on the loss of not only your Dad but also your brother Merle. Merle and I had numerous high school golf team matches against one another and also Centerton club tournament events.
God has welcomed to his Heavenly Home a true gentleman, mentor, entrepreneur, business & golf professional and family patriarch.
Sincerely and Condolences, H. Wayne White St. Augustine, FL.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Carman when he was in the process of developing Running Deer. His passion for the project and his knowledge of the golfing profession was so impressive. My condolences to the Carman family on the loss of this fine gentleman.
