Obituary of Elijah Brisbone

Elijah Brisbone Sr., age 93 of Cedarville, NJ transitioned from this earth on February 11th 2023, at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, New Jersey. Elijah was born on December 29th 1929 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Moses Brisbane Sr. and Henrietta Garrett-Brisbane, along with being raised by his stepmother MaryAnn Brisbane. Elijah was a lifetime resident of Cedarville, New Jersey, and regularly attended New Hope Baptist Church in Cedarville, New Jersey since the year of 1962. As a child Elijah attended St. Paul’s District Public Schools of Hollywood, South Carolina. Elijah first traveled to New Jersey at the age of sixteen as a migrant worker, and also worked numerous jobs before becoming a full-time Forklift Driver at Leone Industries in 1963 in Bridgeton, New Jersey. Elijah dedicated thirty-two years of outstanding service at Leone Industries before retiring in the year of 1995. Elijah loved spending time with his family and friends, and was always seen as the life of the party. One of his favorite past times was meeting up with friends and family at Bridgeton Family Diner. Elijah was also known to know his way around a garden, where he could be found at any given time on his tractor, harvesting his vegetables and preparing them for what he called “The Block”, which others know as the Vineland Farmers Market. Elijah leaves to cherish his memories by his daughter Cheryl Brisbane-Powell (John Powell), two sons; Elijah Brisbone Jr. (Tammy Brisbone) & Melvin Lee Brisbone (Stacey Brisbone). Elijah also leaves to cherish his memories by his siblings Zurline Brisbane-Washington, Martha Brisbane-Brown, Mary Boyd-Brisbane, & Dorothy Brisbane-Fields. Elijah also leaves to cherish his memories by a host of grand-children (10), great grand-children (7), nieces, nephews, and long-time friends. Elijah is preceded in his passing by his father, mother, stepmother, and a host of siblings. Funeral Services will be held at NEW HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH, 47 Schaffer Ave. Cedarville, NJ 08311 on Thursday, February 16th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cedarville.
