Lawrence O. Whitesell, Jr., 74 of Upper Deerfield Township passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at his home. Born in Bridgeton, he was the son of the late Lawrence O. Whitesell and Gladys Johnson Whitesell and the husband of Kathy Kennedy Whitesell. He was a lifetime Bridgeton area resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a mechanic with Novick Auto Mall in Bridgeton for over 39 years. He attended the Tri County Lighthouse Baptist Church in Upper Deerfield Township. Larry enjoyed spending time at his vacation home in West Virginia and also enjoyed traveling and motor sports including dirt track auto racing. In addition to his wife, Kathy, he is survived by his sons, Lee “Sandy” Whitesell (Teresa) of Bridgeton and Lawrence “Eric” Whitesell (Dina) of Bridgeton; his stepchildren, Richard W. Cramer of Bridgeton and Tammy Lloyd (Jeff) of Bridgeton, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren; brothers in law, Edward Kennedy (Arlene), Rick Kennedy (Sharon), Paul Borghero (Cindy); sister in law, Joane Kennedy and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, George, Joseph, Earl, Edward and Henry Whitesell and Margaret Boner. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Friday, February 10th at 11:00 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9:00 to 11:00 Am prior to the services. Interment will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton.
