Obituary of Ruby P. Garrett

Ruby P. Garrett, 98, of Salem passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Born in Carneys Point to the late James B. Collier and Pearl E. Golt Collier, she was the wife of the late Charlie Caldwell and Lillard Garrett. Ruby had been a Salem County resident for many years, prior to that she had resided in Maggie Valley, NC. She retired from the Anchor Hocking Glass Company in Salem after 27 years. In her free time, she enjoyed watching classic movies and old westerns featuring her favorites like John Wayne, Clark Gable, Paul Newman, and Robert Redford. Ruby also loved to dine out, shop, travel, and spend time with family and friends. Some of her favorite past times were visiting Ocean City, Graceland, and seeing an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas as she was a huge Elvis fan. She is survived by her children, William J. Caldwell, and Arlene Caldwell Girtain; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James, and Pearl Collier; her husbands, Charlie Caldwell, and Lillard Garrett; her brothers, Otis Collier, Alfred Collier, Philip Collier, Jimmy Collier, and David Collier; and a sister, Elizabeth Hurst. Funeral Services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp., on Thursday, October 6th at 3:00 PM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2:00 PM to 3:00PM prior to the services. Interment will take place privately at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp.
