Rich and I met in college and stayed friends after our relationship ended. He was always a decent human. Years later, after college, we got back in touch and have shared our experiences as parents—his face beamed when talking about Elijah and Mia. His BBQ was second to none and he always made everyone feel like family, especially if you came to visit the farm.
Rich was a good man. He was a good father, a good friend, a good son. He followed his passions, and he brought others into his life that filled him with joy. We, in turn, received the same joy being around him. I miss him.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m his neighbor. Everyday I would watch to see if Rich had his dogs outside before I headed out with my dogs. There was a few times both of us were out with our dogs together. His larger dog saw my dog & decided to take off headed towards the highway. I heard Rich yell & I looked up. I saw the dog running toward us & I took off running across the yard & into the house as fast as I could. Later I realized his dog just wanted to play with my dog. I’m sure s/he’s a gentle giant. Lol Anyway it’s been beyond horrible the last few days going outside, seeing the farmhouse in my view knowing Rich & his dogs are not there. I feel a tremendous amount of sadness. He was so young. It’s a shock to me & I’m just a neighbor. My heart goes out to you, his kids & family & his dogs. I was hoping they are in good homes. I miss seeing them chasing one another. My heart goes out to everyone who knew Rich. It’s beyond sad. I’m so very sorry for your loss.

I am so incredibly saddened to hear of his passing! I knew Rich since high school (he was my date to the junior prom!), and he spent a year over at WCC, just the year behind me. My heart hurts for his loved ones, I have such great memories of him. God speed to him.

R.S. Nicosia, you weren’t my best friend, you were my brother. 22 years we’ve been together. We’ve been through happiest of moments, and we’ve been through the saddest moments. Today my life was destroyed. Seeing you that last time, my heart shattered. You were the only one I talked to about everything, and now you are gone. I love you Rich, from now until I see you again and beyond, I will always love you. Give your mom a big hug for me, tell her I miss you. And I know, I’ll see you again someday.

I have no words right now. R.S. Nicosia you became one of my good friends when I started dating your “brother”. I shouldn’t even put quotes cause he was your brother. You became a brother to me as well. You were always there for us when we needed anything, and I can’t wrap my head around typing this. I just can’t believe you’re gone. Rest in Paradise.

I have been trying to put into words since I received the phone call yesterday the feelings and emotions. The Day you came into my Life and my Family's life you have truly taught me what family is all about: what loving caring and giving is all about and what truly meaning being there for someone when they need you is all about. Your Momma taught you and I well. You will always leave Footprints in My Heart. Your Children Will always be Safe and Taken care of here on earth and know you will be watching over them. Seth and Tiffany know you and momma will be watching over them too. We will truly love and miss you always, Rich Nicosia.

In this life, passion and love for others goes a long way. It’s those things that make a person of great character and a person who leaves an impact in many people’s lives.
Rich was one of those people. I remember when Spencer Lau, Matt Jordan, myself, and our other refounding Phi Mu Alpha brothers wanted to bring the fraternity back to Rowan University (sorry I couldn’t tag everyone). It was an amazing time for all of us. We got to celebrate the brotherhood of music together. Rich had a great passion for that brotherhood we all had and always wanted to make that fraternal bond stronger.
I won’t lie…we had some differences back then. But one thing that was undeniable was his love for his brothers. Looking back at it now, I know we were on the same mission, even though we had distinctly different personalities. Whether he knew it or not, I appreciated his passion and love for us.
I am thankful that we got to mend things between us and move forward with our friendship and brotherhood in recent years. We both have this in common - we both love deeply and hard. I saw from afar his singing accomplishments, his friendships, and how he loved his kids with all his heart.
Thank you for your friendship and brotherhood. We will all miss you.
Until we meet again, my friend.

Hearing about your passing is deeply upsetting and sad. My thoughts and prayers are with your friends and family. I remember when you started at Schalick and not only were we in band together, we both played percussion and I drove you home every day. You humor and genuine way about you will never be lessened by you not being here. You are a legend, a talented incredible person. You will always be remembered by me as "Porkchop" a name I believe your sweet mother gave you. Rest easy my friend, keep the angels entertained, I hope to meet again.

Days 117,118,119,120,121,122. Sometimes life gets in the way. The important thing is that when the moment occurs you put on your shoes and walk through the doors. I had a few different challenges this week one was saying good by to my cousin R.S. Nicosia. Losing a sibling is one of the hardest things to face. Praying for peace for my Uncle Joe, cousins Gayle and Deanna Rest easy Richard.
