Mary N. Lindsey, 85, of Millville passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 22, 2022 under the care of hospice and her family. Born in Bridgeton to the late Wallace White and Callie Marjorie Nutter, she was the wife of the late Willie Ralph Lindsey. She had been a resident of Millville for the past 3 years and prior to that she had been a longtime resident of DeKalb, GA after moving there in 1976. Prior to her retirement, Mary had worked as a teacher for the DeKalb County School System in GA for 29 years. Before that she had been a substitute teacher working in the Bridgeton School System and taught summer school in Haleyville. She was a veteran of the United States Army serving during peacetime and was stationed in Hawaii and Fort Dix. She was a graduate of Morgan College, Rowan University and Cumberland County College and had earned her masters degree in education. In her free time she enjoyed caring for her plants and was an avid reader of books of all genres. She is survived by; her daughter, Deborah Scott and her fiance John Rutledge of Millville; her brother, Harvey Nutter of Patterson; three sisters, Cecilia Allen of NC, Shirley Afro of MA and Naomi Nutter of Nanticoke, MD; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by; her husband, Willie R. Lindsey; her sister, April Marble and her brothers, David Nutter and Robert Nutter.
