Obituary of Carrel E. Rains

Carrel E. Rains, 83, of Pittsgrove Twp. passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Born in Cocke County, TN to the late William Rains and Dora Jane Hall Rains, he was the husband of Ida Belle Witte Rains. After moving to NJ as a young boy, he had been a resident of Pittsgrove Twp. since 1963. Carrel had previously resided in Upper Pittsgrove Twp. Prior to his retirement in 2005, Carrel had worked as a fork lift operator at Kimble Glass Co.in Vineland for over 20 years. He had been previously employed at Charles Linbaugh Truck Repair and Massari Pallet Shop in Pennsgrove. In his free time, Carrel loved to work on antique cars, play guitar and sing. He was also a known tinkerer and loved to listen to classic country music, especially Elvis and Jim Reeves. One his favorite things to do was to cuddle his favorite cat, Buster. He is survived by; his wife, Ida Belle Rains of Pittsgrove Twp.; his siblings, Harl Raines of Upper Pittsgrove Twp. and William “Rock” Rains (Donna) of Slater, SC; his two grandchildren, Ashley M. Rains of Monroeville and Christopher B. Rains and his fiance, Megan Frank of Pennsville; his beloved cat, Buster Rains and a host of other family members and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by; his son, Bruce Eugene Rains; his sister, Betty Peters; two brothers, Earl Rains and Jimmie Rains and his beloved dog, Lyzah. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Saturday, July 23rd at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Elmer.
