Obituary of Lillian June Porter

She was born in Lexington, SC to the late Nelson Thompson and Gladys Hagan Thompson on October 31, 1939. She then moved to Alloway Township where she was raised. She also resided in Jersey City, Bridgeton, and Atlantic City. She had currently been a resident of Salem. She had been employed by the Safety Bus Company in Atlantic County. She had also been previously employed with the Jersey City Medical Center in Jersey City and the Salem Baptist Nursing Center in Jersey City. Mrs. Porter had been a member of the Mt. Zion AME Church in Woodstown. She loved to cook for her family and crocheting. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and shopping. She is survived by: her children, Gwendolyn M. Thompson of Bridgeton, Deborah A. Thompson of Salem, Spencer L. Thompson of Salem and Darryn K. Thompson of Salem; two sisters, Yvonne Wisher of Frenchtown and Lottie Goldsborough of Bridgeton; her grandchildren, Quiana (Domitris, Sr.), Melina (Kelly), Kenneef, Marquis (Madinah), Raymond, Shonda, Shawna, Darryn, Rashard, Stephan, Anisa, Anniyha and Latoya; her great-grandchildren, Domitris, Jr., Kamran, Yaseem, I'yonna, Akhi', and Yasmirah, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by; her husband, Cornelius Ray Brown; seven siblings, Bessie May Jones, Eloise Williams, Leroy Thompson, Edward Thompson, Curtis Thompson, Leslie Thompson, and Albert Thompson. Funeral Services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 11 AM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
