Obituary of Arlene I. Winrow

Please share a memory of Arlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Arlene I. Winrow, nee Valentine, a lifelong resident of Bridgeton, New Jersey was blessed to have enjoyed 79 years of faithfulness to her Lord and Savior. She was born on June 7, 1942, and transitioned from labor to reward on June 4, 2022. She is the daughter of the late Violet and Howard Valentine. After a lengthy illness, however, Jesus saw that she was tired; and as a dutiful servant, she said farewell to her loved ones here and followed him to rest in his arms for eternity. Arlene attended Bridgeton schools and graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1960. "Leenie", as she was called in school, excelled in field hockey and tennis, loved to dance, and enjoyed home economics. After graduation, she would attend nursing school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Arlene would later meet and marry the love of her life, Rodney and together they would spend the next 60 years making a home for her children...Aaron, Anthony, Colin, Carla, Robin, Jonathan and Tiara. Sister Arlene joined Haven United Methodist Church at an early age. She was a faithful Steward and when she wasn't helping in the kitchen, she could be found at the front doors of the church smiling and baking bread every 1st Sunday for Communion. She also served on Church Council, was the President, Vice President, and Secretary of the United Methodist Women, served on Church Women United, was Sunday School Superintendent, was Vacation Bible School Leader, and attended Bible Study. She was a long-time member of the Community Ushers of South Jersey. In her later years, she would host Bible Study in her home. Arlene was unselfish, kind, and gracious. Her unselfishness, her kindness, her pleasant smile, and her love for God made her the faithful and obedient servant for the Lord. She would tend her gardens and groom her plants and shrubs. Arlene, a gracious and quiet woman, was a dynamo in the kitchen. She could do it all...cook, bake, mix and stir. When she was done, there would be a delicious spread of food beautifully adorned and decorated and oh so scrumptious! We will miss her chicken and dumplings and her sweet desserts. Arlene leaves her husband Rodney, her sister, Debra Valentine and her five children Aaron, Anthony (Cindy), Colin (Felicia), Carla Parsley (Derick) and Robin Henry (Will); her numerous grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A visitation will be held at the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Monday, June 13th from 5:00 to 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at the Haven United Methodist Church, 354 Quinton-Marlboro Rd., Quinton, NJ 08072 on Tuesday, June 14th at 10:00 AM.
