John Armstead, 68, of Bridgeton passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at his home under the care of his family and hospice. Born in Elmer, he was the son of late Kaiser Armstead and Cornelia Booker Armstead and was the husband of the late Mary Eldridge Armstead. He had been a lifetime Bridgeton resident. Prior to his retirement, John had been employed with the Wheaton Plastics Company in Millville for several years. He loved his family and his special dog Russell. Although he did not have children of his own, he and his late wife Mary raised four of his nieces, Yolanda Armstead-Smith, Priscilla Mae Armstead, Tara Lynn Lawrence and Gloria E. Collier. He is also survived by his brother, Arthur Armstead of Carmel and his sister, Cornelia J. Johnson of Hillside. He was predeceased by a brother, Elkaisis Armstead and a sister, Patsy Armstead. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Saturday, May 28th at 11:00 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Yorktown Cemetery in Pilesgrove Township.
