Obituary of Nona Ardeen Zearfaus

Ardeen Zearfaus, age 79 of Newfield, NJ went home to be with the Lord May 4, 2022. She grew up in Southwest Virginia where a missionary from New Jersey started a camp and church, and that is where she trusted the Lord, and years later met Joseph Zearfaus, Sr. They married in 1962 and served as missionaries at that same camp for five years. They moved to New Jersey when Joseph Zearfaus, Sr. accepted a pastorate at Hardingville, and later at Christ Community Baptist Tabernacle on Route 40 in Newfield. She worked as a nurses aid at the Mater Dei Nursing Home for over twenty five years. She traveled to thirteen countries to encourage and help missions. She served in the church as pastor’s wife, Sunday School teacher, Church clerk, and Mission Board Member. She is survived by five children, Elizabeth Thayer of Newfield, NJ; Joseph Zearfaus, Jr. of Newfield, NJ; Mark Zearfaus of Holidaysberg, PA; Rachael Hodges of Inverness, FL and Brooklyn Zearfaus of Newfield, NJ. A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, May 14th at the Christ Community Baptist Tabernacle at 188 Route 40, located 2 ½ miles East of Elmer, across from the Harding Woods Mobile Home Park. There will be time of visitation from 10:00 – 12:00 pm. and a Memorial Service at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the church building fund. Gifts can be sent to Christ Community Baptist Tabernacle 188 Route 40 Newfield, NJ 08344.
