Obituary of John Morris

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Walter Morris, Jr., age 95 of St. Augustine, FL, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Community Hospice and Palliative Care, after a brief illness. Born in Cedarville, NJ, to the late John W. and Ethel Webster Morris, John graduated Bridgeton High School in 1945, worked for Shepard Farms in Cedarville, married the love of his life, Elva Street Morris, 67 years, and was employed by Owens-Illinois Glass Company until retirement. John was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. He enjoyed playing golf, bridge, pinochle, the beach and spending time with family and friends. Tuesdays were trips to Cowtown for molasses cookies and fresh roasted peanuts. The floor of his Dodge Dart was always covered in peanut shells! John was known for his “short cuts” on back roads. Furniture restoration, upholstery, and caning chairs were his favorite hobbies. John always had a beautiful home and lawn and took great pride in both. He was a stylish dresser with “spit polished” shoes, until he traded his shoes for sandals in Florida. Coffee was a staple that had to be fresh and HOT! In addition to his parents and Elva, John was predeceased by brother, Robert Morris, and son-in-law, Dennis Fisler. John is survived by his daughters, Jane M. Chambers (Robert), and Jill M. Fisler; grandchildren, Rob Chambers (Nina), Hilary Fisler (Jeff), and Kelsey Chambers (Cody); 3 great-granddaughters, Lucia, Piper, and Whitney. A private service will be held at the discretion of the family. Local arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township. Written condolences can be sent to the family at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
