Roger L. Hess, 67, of Vineland passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Born in Richland, Tazwell County, VA he was the son of Holland Hess and the late Ettie Ray Hess and the husband of Denise Kinzel Hess. Roger had been employed as a paver with Easmunt Paving Company in Millville prior to his illness and had also previously worked for Ricky Slade Paving in Bridgeton. He enjoyed taking walks, country music including bluegrass and Bill Monroe, talking and being social and always enjoyed helping others. He was also an avid collector of Hess Trucks. Roger also attended the Elks Lodge in Bridgeton. In addition to his wife, Denise and father, Holland, he is survived by his children, Christine Vezquez (Miguel) of Vineland, Jennifer Merritt (Castorlino) of Vineland and Frank Merritt (Vanessa) of Vineland; a brother, Donnie Hess; a sister, Mary Dye; grandchildren, Miguel, III, Victor, Jacob, Alicia and Castorlino,III, nieces, nephews and other extended family. He was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Dye. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Friday, March 4th at 3:00 PM with the Rev. Gerald Fortunato officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the services. Written condolences can be sent to the family at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
