Obituary of Edward G. Myers Sr.

Edward G. Myers, Sr., 74, of Pittsgrove passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Cooper Hospital in Camden. Born in Pittsgrove Township and a lifetime Pittsgrove resident, he was the son of the late Dorothy M. Scott and stepson of the late Archibald Scott. He was the husband of Sharon Holton Myers. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a mechanic with the Pittsgrove Township Department of Public Works. Ed also had previously worked at Parvin Farms, the Centerton Golf Course, Johnson Farms and had owned and operated Ed’s Small Engine Repair. He was an active longtime member of the Centerton Fire Company where he had served as president, vice president, chaplain, chief, assistant chief and captain. He was also a life member of the NJ state fireman’s relief association, NJ state exempt fireman’s association, Delaware Valley fire chiefs association (NJ director), Salem County District 3 deputy fire marshal, Salem County district 3 deputy fire coordinator and the NJ state volunteer fire chiefs association. Ed was a member of the South Jersey Gas Engine Club, Odd Fellows, Waterloo Boys, a Pittsgrove Township committeeman, the Pittsgrove Agriculture Advisory Committee, Pittsgrove Office of Emergency Management and the Olivet Cemetery Committee. The things that Ed really enjoyed were farming, driving his Ford Model A, gossip and restoring antique John Deere tractors. In addition to his wife, Sharon, he is survived by his children, Kim Myers Darminio, Edward G. Myers, Jr. (Crystal), Kristofer Myers and Samantha Scarfo (Shawn); grandchildren, Michael Myers, Alex Myers, Shane Scarfo, Scarlett Scarfo and Shep Scarfo and a sister, Catherine Paulaitis. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Alberta Watson. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Thursday, March 3rd at 12:00 Noon. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon prior to the services. Interment will take place at Olivet Cemetery in Pittsgrove Township.
