Raymond “Ray” Coleman Jr., passed away surrounded by his family Tuesday, February 8th at the age of 68. Ray was born on May 26, 1953, in Williamson, West Virginia, raised in Bridgeton, New Jersey, and was a long-time resident of Newport, New Jersey, where he enjoyed farming, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and disappearing to his dock to catch a fish or two. Ray was a kind and generous soul that consoled those who were struggling and helped those who needed it whenever he was able. His laughter will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Ray graduated from Bridgeton High school in 1971. He worked as a machinist at Maul Bros and Airwork early in his career. He then found his calling helping people, beginning his medical career working at Millville Rescue Squad, followed by over 20 years of employment at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland in the emergency department. Ray is survived by his loving wife Rosemary of Newport; his mother Elizabeth of Fairton; his son Kevin and his wife Cristy of Newport; his son Brian and his wife Bianca of Upper Deerfield and his son Raymond III and his wife Meghan of Deerfield; his beloved grandchildren Roselyn, Marilyn, Ellie Rae and Dean; his brother Robert of Bridgeton, his brother Timothy and his wife Laura of Belhaven North Carolina; his sister Carol Hudnall of Fairton; and his sister Deborah Kienzle of Millville. Ray is predeceased his two sons Anthony and Benjamin, his father Raymond Sr., and his sister Sheila Ann. At Ray’s request, there will be no public funeral or memorial service and that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Pope Francis Food Pantry on 64 North Street Bridgeton, New Jersey or the Downe Township Rescue Squad. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
