Obituary of Evelyn Joyce Grooms

Evelyn Joyce Walls Grooms, a family dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, wife and friend, passed away while surrounded by family at Moore Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the age of 69. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 2, 1952. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her oldest daughter, Helen Geneva (Jeannie); her sister, Barbara Jolley of Raeford, NC; her brother Everette Ray of New Jersey; her grandson, Keith Levering; and young child, John Garland. She is survived by her husband, Tom Grooms of Robbins NC; her children, Loriann Grooms of Carthage NC, Betty Huff of Bridgeton NJ, John Grooms of Robbins NC, Michelle Harris of Robbins NC, and Barbie Stewart of Robbins NC; Her Siblings, Patricia Bruce of Tennessee. Fayetta Jean of Tennessee, Helen Smith of Maryland, and Samuel Walls of Tennessee. Along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews whom she lived her whole life for. Joyce was so loved by her entire family, as well as anyone who came in contact with her. She devoted her life to her children as a stay at home mom and her world revolved around her family. She will be remembered by her beautiful smile, loving personality, and her warm and giving heart. Joyce enjoyed being surrounded by loved ones, crafting, and giving or helping others. She was dedicated to the Lord and was involved in many church activities. She will be missed deeply by her family, friends, and all who knew her. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her dear friend and caregiver, Charity Steele, who shortly became family. She was the light of many of Joyce’s days, and we cannot thank her enough for her love and compassion. Graveside funeral services will be held at Centerton Free Will Baptist Cemetery, 110 Dealtown Rd, Pittsgrove Twp. on Saturday, February 12th at 11 AM.
