Obituary of Joseph R. Allen, Jr.

Joseph R. Allen, Jr., 74, of Vineland passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Born in Bridgeton to the late Joseph R. Allen, Sr. and Doris McDermott Sparks, he was the husband of the late Barbara Mally Allen. He had been a Cumberland County resident all his life except while serving in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. Joseph worked as a chef at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland, where he retired twice. Joseph came out of retirement to work part-time before retiring for the second time. In his free time, he enjoyed walking on the beach and the boardwalk. He enjoyed gardening, walking his dog, spending time outdoors and spending quality time with his family. He is survived by; his step children, William Kober (Christina) of DE, Regina Kuppinger (Chris) of DE and Kevin Kober (Jen) of DE; his brother, Rodney Allen (Mary Jo) of VA; nieces, Emily, Rachel, Emma and Adelyn; his favorite dog, Andy; and his cat, Pitty Pat. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family with inurnment at Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Twp.
