James D. Cobbs, 53, of Millville passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Born in Washington, DC to the late Alma Cobbs, he was the husband of Shanekia Lee Cobbs. James was a resident of Cumberland County for most of his life after moving from Washington, DC as a young child. James had been employed by Durand Glass Co. in Millville. He had been formerly employed by the Cumberland County Detention Center as a Corrections Officer for many years and at the Trump Casino Properties in Atlantic City in Security. James loved to coach and watch football and was a fan of all sports. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He also passed away on the same date as his favorite basketball player, Kobe Bryant. He is survived by; his wife, Shanekia Cobbs of Millville, his children, James O. Cobbs of Vineland, Raven L. Cobbs of Bridgton and Semaj D. Cobbs of Bridgeton; his sister, Yvonne Cobbs of Pennsgrove; seven grandchildren, his niece Ke-nu Cobbs of Bridgeton and his nephew Charles Cooper of Pennsgrove. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alma Cobbs. Funeral services will be held at Glory Tabernacle Church, 1010 Buckshutem Rd., Bridgeton on Monday, February 7th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Fordville Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the church form 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
