Bertha (Bertie/Bert) Martin, age 100, of Bridgeton passed away at her home on Monday, January 31, 2022. Born in Aldine, she was the daughter of the late Orville Strang and Manolia Darnell Strang and the wife of the late Amos Martin. She had been a Bridgeton area resident most of her life. Prior to her retirement, Bertha had been employed with the City of Bridgeton in the Tax Office for 35 years. She had also previously worked for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company. She enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies and playing cards with family members. Bertha also liked horse racing and casino trips to Atlantic City. Surviving are her four children, Robert E. Martin (Janette) of FL, Joan E. Garrison of Fairfield Township, Peggy A. Anderson (Tiny) of Hopewell Township and Pat Cossaboon (Nard) of Hopewell Township along with 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings, Elizabeth Strang, Vera McMahon and Orville Strang, her son in law, Kenneth Garrison, her grandson, Rob Cossaboon and her close friend who was like family to her, Flo Mummert. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Saturday, February 5th at 11:00 AM. Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township.
