Obituary of Bettye L. Griffin-Staples

Bettye L. Griffin-Staples, 65, of Bridgeton passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Born in Bridgeton to Zettie Rozier Griffin and the late James Louis Griffin, she was the wife of the late Jonathan Staples. Bettye had been a resident of the Bridgeton area all of her life. Bettye had worked as a school bus driver for the Vineland Public School System. Prior to that she had been employed at Kerr Glass Co. in Millville for many years and had worked as a substitute teacher in the Bridgeton School System. She was a member of the Greater Sr. Augustine Zion Church in Bridgeton where she served on the Board of Ushers. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She survived by; her mother, Zettie Rozier Griffin of Fairfield Twp.; three children, Jonathan Griffin of Sicklerville, Quincy L. Griffin of Millville and Tanisha Staples of Bridgeton; six sisters, Shari Gullatt, Jacquetta Rawls, Geneva Griffin, Colleen Satterfield, Gina Dawkins and Roxanne Randazzo; four grandchildren, Alicia Griffin, Matthew Wade, Sydney Griffin and Jonathan Griffin, Jr. and a great-granddaughter, Mila Cortez. Besides her husband, James, she was preceded in death by; six siblings, Willia Donaldson, Janice Price, James Randazzo, Elmarie Thomas, Herman Griffin and Kathleen Johnson. Funeral services will be held at Greater St. Augustine AME Zion Church, 410 N. Pearl Street., Bridgeton on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Fordville Memorial Park in Fairfield Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
