Born in Long Branch, WV on August 13, 1927 to the late Fred Sparks and Annie Wright Sparks, she was the wife of Herbert L. Payne. She had lived at her present address for the past 23 years and was a Dividing Creek resident prior to that She had previously been employed with the Owens-Illinois Glass Co. and was a member of the Lighthouse Church of God in Millville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sisters, Jannie Woods of Bridgeton, Dixie Sheppard of Fairton, and Martha Bebee of Petersburg; a brother, Okie Sparks of Cleveland, OH; a granddaughter, Nicole Welden-Davis of Newport; a grandson, Dennis Welden of Newport; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including: Ruth Williams and Susan Carr. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Ann Welden and 12 siblings, Cleva Chaffins, Monnie Hall, Nellie Cramer, Leva Adomini, Lovey Earl, Rosalie Sparks, Jackie Sparks, Mitchell Sparks, Fred Sparks, Jr., Jarrels B. Sparks, Dalice Sparks and George Sparks. Funeral Services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Thursday, December 20th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Greenwood Memorial Park in Millville. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services.
