Obituary of John L. Chester

John L. Chester, 75, of Upper Deerfield Twp. passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Inspira Hospital in Elmer. Born in Bridgeton to late John A. Chester and Lois Hitchner Hamlyn, he was the husband of Beatrice K. Groves Chester. John had been a resident of Upper Deerfield Twp. for the past 54 years and prior to that he had resided in Bridgeton. He was a member of the Bridgeton High School Class of 1965. John had worked as a paid firefighter with the City of Bridgeton for 30 years and had served as a Lieutenant with the Department. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking and oil painting. John was also an avid fan of auto racing and NASCAR. His family described him as having a great sense of humor. In addition to his wife, Beatrice, he is survived by his two children, Lisa Chester-Roque of Blackwood and John H. Chester (Bonnie) of Fortescue; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
