Helen V. Sloan, 87, of Bridgeton passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland. Born in Bridgeton to the late Charles Dixon and Henrietta Pierson Dixon, she was the wife of Donald F. Sloan for over 65 years. Helen had been a resident of Bridgeton all of her life. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed at DeCora Glass Co. in Elmer for about 10 years. Before that she had worked for DeWilde's Nursery and Price Label Co. in Bridgeton as a book keeper. For the past several years, Helen had attended Hardingville Bible Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and most of the membership consisted of her classmates from the Bridgeton High School Class of 1954. Helen served her church faithfully for many years where she enjoyed cooking and providing hospitality to her church family. She is survived by her husband, Donald F. Sloan of Bridgeton; six children, Mabel Laquitara of Bridgeton, Donald J. “Donnie” Sloan of Atlantic City, Thomas G. Sloan (Nancy) of Bridgeton, Patricia “Patty” Getz (Bill)of Feasterville, PA, Bruce A. Sloan (Janeen) of Stow Creek Twp. and Steven R. Sloan of Vineland; her siblings, Charles Dixon of FL, Melvin Dixon of DE, Joseph Elwell of Laurel Lake and Mary Nash of TN; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Iva Utley and Betty Dixon. Funeral services will be held at Hardingville Bible Church, 979 Whig Lane, Monroeville, on Friday, October 29th at 11 AM. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, October 28th from 6 PM to 8 PM at Hardingville Bible Church and on Friday morning from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Cohansey Baptist Cemetery in Hopewell Twp. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Helen’s memory be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township.
